Person Memorial Hospital Opens New Orthopedic Practice

Person Memorial Hospital has announced the opening of Person Orthopedics, a new orthopedic practice serving the Roxboro/Person County community. Along with the new practice opening, Person Memorial has welcomed new providers Mark Messmer, DO and Scott Riley, PA-C to its team. “We are excited to open Person Orthopedics as an addition to our current primary care practice and specialty practices,” said Bert Beard, Person Memorial Hospital CEO. “The new clinic will serve established patients of Person Memorial, but also is open to other local patients who have orthopedic care needs.”
Person Orthopedics offers diagnosis and treatment of conditions involving the musculoskeletal system, including trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, and congenital disorders.
Dr Mark Messmer comes from a military background and joins Person Memorial following a position as Staff Orthopedic Surgeon at Camp Lejeune. His Patient population there was primarily active-duty Marines and Sailors with a variety of sports-related injuries and trauma. Dr Messmer is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Medical Education and a
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr Messmer is a member of the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopedics and the American Osteopathic Association.
Scott Riley, PA-C earned his Master of Health Sciences in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine in December of last year. He also has completed clinical rotations in Orthopedic Medicine, Surgical Medicine, Emergency
Medicine, as well as several other concentrations in the medical field.
