Person Memorial Hospital Nurse, Kerry Henderson, Receives Lifepoint Health Mercy Award
June 4, 2024
Person Memorial Hospital proudly announces Kerry Henderson, RN and House Supervisor, as the recipient of the 2024 Lifepoint Health Mercy Award. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
With a decade-long tenure at Person Memorial Hospital, Kerry has served in various capacities, including Case Manager, Emergency Department RN, and House Supervisor. Her compassion, dedication, and selflessness have illuminated her path, inspiring colleagues and the community alike. Despite personal obligations, including caring for her husband, Don, through health challenges and raising six children, Kerry has never wavered in extending a helping hand to those in need.
Kerry's recent act of kindness toward a young immigrant exemplifies her character and the essence of the Mercy Award. When an 18-year-old from Ghana found himself without shelter or means after a failed job opportunity, Kerry and her family welcomed him into their home and church community. She helped him secure local resources, find accommodation, and secure job opportunities, profoundly impacting his life.
Beyond her extraordinary act of compassion, Kerry actively engages in community events, including Relay for Life in Person County, and collaborates with Person Memorial and Person County EMS partners to develop fundraising initiatives annually.
"We are honored to nominate Kerry Henderson as the 2024 Lifepoint Health Mercy Award Winner," said Bert Beard, CEO of Person Memorial Hospital. "Her dedication to serving others sets a remarkable example for us all, embodying the values that define Person Memorial Hospital."
Kerry Henderson now stands as one of sixty semifinalists eligible for the companywide award, with the opportunity to be invited to Nashville in August. Her unwavering commitment to serving others continues to inspire and uplift all those around her.
