November 14, 2024
Person Memorial Hospital has earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for the third consecutive evaluation period, continuing its commitment to providing the highest standards of patient safety. This recognition places Person Memorial Hospital among the top hospitals nationwide for its efforts to reduce medical errors, infections, injuries, and accidents, and underscores the hospital's dedication to improving the quality of care for its community.
The Leapfrog Group assigns hospital safety grades based on over 30 performance measures, including instances of medical errors, preventable accidents, and infections, as well as the systems in place to prevent such incidents. The "A" grade reflects Person Memorial Hospital's continued dedication to patient safety and the effective implementation of safety protocols.
“We are extremely proud to achieve an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for the third consecutive time,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Person Memorial Hospital. “This recognition is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our physicians, nurses, clinical staff, and volunteers who go above and beyond to ensure our patients receive the highest level of care in the safest environment. Our team’s commitment to putting patient safety first is unwavering, and we are honored to continue to serve our community with excellence.”
Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, congratulated Person Memorial Hospital on its continued success. “Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Person Memorial Hospital,” said Binder. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Person Memorial Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only national rating program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries, and infections, which lead to more than 500 patient deaths every day in the United States. The grade is updated twice a year, in the fall and spring, and is fully transparent, providing the public with critical information about hospital safety.
