2020 Mercy Award Winner: Jason Whitman
August 11, 2020
Roxboro, North Carolina – August 2020 – Person Memorial Hospital recently announced that Jason Whitman has been recognized as the hospital’s 2020 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
“At Person Memorial, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said David Ziolkowski, CEO of Person Memorial. “We are extremely proud to recognize Jason for his efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. He goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person he encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Jason has served Person Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department for 5 years. Jason has been an exemplary ED nurse at PMH. He truly lives our mission of “Making Communities Healthier”, in addition to truly embodying the first of our High Five Guiding Principles by “delivering high-quality patient care”. One of his accomplishments that I am most proud of is that he leads our entire organization in the number of positive Press Ganey patient comments in which he is specifically mentioned for going above and beyond for providing excellent service and care. He has received nearly 10% of all the positive patient comments at PMH, what an achievement!
Each hospital winner, including Jason, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2020 companywide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this Fall and honored during a ceremony in October.
